Thailand: What to expect

Image
Time of year visited: March/April 2017 & April 2019 Language: Thai is the official language of the country (including surrounding islands); however, most young people are taught basic English and a lot of signs/ road markings are written in English. Currency: Thai Baht- £1= roughly 44 THB. Use cash where possible as you will get best value for money, however cards are widely accepted and ATM machines available. BE AWARE CARD FRAUD IS A BIG PROBLEM (I have been a victim of card fraud twice lol). Getting Around: Tuk-tuks are a widely used, motorbike taxis, BTS sky-train, and taxis are all available. Weather: Hot, dry, overcast during the mornings, sunny during the days. TOP TIP: DO NOT DRINK THE TAP WATER- STICK TO BOTTLED WATER, EVEN TO BRUSH YOUR TEETH! THINGS TO DO IN BANGKOK: Visit a temple: Considering the vast number of temples in Thailand, it would be crazy to not visit one. There are many temples and they all are uniquely beautiful.  My personal...

My Top 3 Excursions

Image
This is for those of you who may have seen my Instagram video on my favourite excursions. This is to give you more of an in-depth idea on price, what each excursion included and over-all ratings.   Number 3- Kutn á Hora, Czech Republic . The silver mining town of Kutn á Hora, a UNESCO World Heritage site, comes in at number 3 on my list because of the beautiful architecture of St. Barbara’s Cathedral and the uniqueness of the Sedlec Ossuary/ Bone Chapel. I booked our tickets though https://www.neweuropetours.eu/sandemans-tours/prague/day-trip-kutna-hora-from-prague/ and it came in at 38 euros each (roughly £32-36 depending on exchange rate). I have to say our tour guide was probably one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had on a trip; the tour included: ·          Transport from Old Town Square and back ·          Entrance into the Sedlec Ossuary/ Bone Chapel ·    ...

The Return of the Rule of 6: Easing out of UK Lockdown March 29th

Image
Who would have thought that we’d all be excited for the rule of 6 to return! With Boris providing us with the roadmap to easing out of lockdown in the upcoming weeks/months, there has been great news that the rule of 6 will be re-implemented from 29 th March and the stay at home order will come to an end. The map has stated that outdoor activities will be acceptable and that basically means PICNICS!! Picnics are a cheap, cheerful way to get people together and at this point anything will do after being in lockdown for so long over winter.   1. First things first- Location, Location, Location. Living in London the burning urge to flock to Hyde Park once there is a little bit of sun is almost unbearable lol, I get it, it is centrally located, it’s HUGE, and there are plenty of shops around but I promise you London is littered with many other parks are just as beautiful. Starting off in West we have Holland Park, Regent’s Park and Richmond Park to name a few. In East we have, V...

5 Things to do while in Faro, Portugal

Image
Time of Year Visited: August 2017 Weather: very hot, dry and sunny Flights: £93.00 pp Accommodation: £36.00 pp Currency: Euro Getting Around : Local taxis, uber and rental cars. Most destinations can be reached by foot or you can also rent a bike. 5 Things to do while in Faro: 1. Take a walk around the Old Town. With Faro having cute cobbled back streets and historic buildings, you can get lost walking around during the summer evenings. Important monuments such as Largo Da S é , São Pedro Church and Arabesque Arco de Repouso just some of the spots that can be explored. From the Old Town it is just a short walk to Castelo de Tavira, which is a small castle giving great views from the top of the town and the sea. It is free entry and there are no time limitations, I would recommend! A few points to note: the steps to the battlements are very steep so be careful and wear sensible shoes, there are usually buskers during the day so have some change handy, there are ...
